Take care..have a nice holiday season

We go year around just about every weekend and as many weekdays as we can get away with, that's why we got us a place on the lake I'm sure we will burn out one of these days but hope it's not until I'm too broke down to fish.

You have a nice holiday too!

Why aren't Lake Fork owners using floating docks instead of a pier supported docks which become stranded from fishable/boatable water?

I've heard this many times but have always wondered why? What's the reason, and why does it affect other places negatively (like Ray Roberts)?
Just curious,

It's the intimidation factor. Something told to me years ago "It's not what I see but what I can't see that bothers me". I have fished there since 90 and seen it much lower at times. Cameron wasn't it down around 8 to 10 foot low back around 92-93ish? I recall them having to do some dam repair/maintenance sometime back then. DFW lawn sprinklers is demanding ya know scared

You may be one of the only people that feel this way if you are referring to fishing during the low water times. . I like the low water just fine.

Not sure, I would have been 7 years old frown

Lowest I have seen it was the drought a few years back at 5.5' ft low. Fishing was incredible, we got to do some much needed repairs to our boat slips...got to see how creek channels actually laid out, very educational. Made me a lot more confident on where I can and can not run when the lake is at full pool...only negative thing we experienced was we were not able to pump gas "on the water" any longer and we lost several elderly/disabled customers that could not do without a boat slip.

I hope it stays low through the spring, we would see some pigs pop out

My dad had bought a new travel trailer and he parked it at Lake Fork Ranch during the summer and fall of 92 and we were there every weekend then and the lake got really low. Saw stuff we were running over at full throttle that scared me. A buddy sent me a picture of a tree stump that was just at water level and in it's fork was a stainless prop, nut and shaft imbeaded where the blades we barely visible. For the life of me I cannot find that pic or remember where he shot it at. But yea fishing was good then saw alot of exposed humps and structure just wished gps was available then to mark all of those spots.

I'm assuming you are asking why low water improves future fishing. Depending on how long lakes are down it allows all kinds of trees/brush and grass to grow on the newly exposed and nutrient rich shoreline, not to mention downed trees and limbs that accumulate there and other types of structure. When the lake comes back up all that new stuff is now underwater and turns into fish holding structure, more places for fry to hide, and also bait holding structure as well..

I know when Pines was low all kinds of stuff grew along the exposed bank which in some cases was exposed for at least 50 yds or more. Trees actually grew to a few inches thick and ten ft. tall or more, grass and briars and such had time to establish sizeable patches.

JMO but I dont believe it hurt Ray Roberts either. It may make things tough while the water was low but the rebirthing of all the new stuff in the water could only help any lake. like I said just my opinion..
