Top-load washing machine 13yrs old has worked fine all along. Recently started leaking about 1/2 cup under the machine after doing a load. Any ideas what to look for? Is it worth repairing or just get a new one?

I'm not sure what to look for, but if it's more than $100 to fix, check Craigslist...I've bought two very nice washers on there for that or less...1 was less than a year old and has the commercial sized tub...

I would look for a leak. Take the front cover off you will see it.

Check the easy stuff first, leaking hose, leaking fill valve. Then turn it so you can look at the bottom and check for leaking pump. If still can't find leak look for a hole in the tub. If leaking in the tub, get rid of it and get another. Leaking hose, replace hose, leaking fill valve, see how much it costs and then make decision.
Put the plug in.

Check where the drain hose goes into the wall. Our drain clogs up every year or so and we have to call the plumber out.

Id nearly bet you its the pump. If you knew how to remove the outer casing its right on the front, 2 hose clamps on it. Its prolly a $30 part. Happens often smaller jewelry or thongs, yes i said thongs, get in there and wrap around the impellar and cause a hot spot which causes a leak.
Thats nearly a garantee its what it is or if you have a rat check your drain hose internally

Wooly- I had a problem also where my top load was leaking just a little bit of water after each load. Took the cover off and found where is was dripping....the discharge hose. Where the discharge hose exits the metal housing of the unit there was hole cut in the metal housing and that edge wore a slit in the hose from the vibrations of the washer. Pulled the hose and replaced it, all good now. I also added some rubber tape to the edge to avoid it happening again. Just an idea for ya. Mines a Maytag.
If I ever get back to Oklahoma, I'm gonna nail my feet to the ground!

Check where the drain hose goes into the wall. Our drain clogs up every year or so and we have to call the plumber out. Depending on your location (rural or urban) you might want to check the end of your drain line. Mine gets clogged with leaves and plant roots quite often. If it's an open drain you might have critters crawling up in there. My dad used to have a terrible time with box turtles crawling up the drain pipe during dry summers.
