I fish a lake that is always stained. How should I fish it (worm color etc.) Thanks for your help.

Me personally when I fish dirtier water which I prefer I use dark colored jigs and worms. Black/brown jigs blue/black worms such things like that and always use rattles on my jigs. Also a softplastic that displaces quite a bit of water

You ever notice how we all throw darker colored baits in dirty water but yet the bass and the bait actually turn more pale in it?

Never really thought about that! Interesting point. I have always thrown darker colors on soft plastics and the chartreuse colors on cranks.

Me too. just something that crossed my mind earlier this year though. thumb...Sometimes I guess we just throw the colors we like and the fish could care less. thumb

Try a dark red or purple worm.

darker water = darker colors
clearer water = lighter colors

kinda funny what Mark said, and exactly right. I own about 3 of every color made. I proly only use 4-5 colors no matter the water clarity, temp, or time of year (except fall for the shad). and the goofy thing is that I carry all these different colors that I dont use in my boat.
go with what you like and have confidence in.

We dug a tank 2 years ago at the farm. The water hasn't settled yet and it is always muddy. It was stocked with minnows, brim, and cats. All are extremely light and have no markings. It has a ton of craws too and they are almost completely white. I brought some craws and a brim home, put them in my aquarium and both changed colors within a few weeks. Light penatration make good coloration
I throw white in muddy water. I use a white tube during the spawn regardless of the clarity. I also like white at night.
White reflects all the colors of light, while black ubsorbes all the color in the light. All other colors reflect one color, and ubsorb all other colors. I let the amount of light, and the color of the water be determining factors as much as water clarity.
To the question, white or black mostly for me.
