I live right near Bracken Ridge Park in San Antonio I go fishing there at least once a month just for a little practice and all I ever catch are dinky bass and bluegill and tips/suggestions for lures or spots?

Hey "bassmuch55". As for fishing in the Bracken Ridge Park I have never seen anything to brag about that is coming out of there. You might try some of the creeks that run through town such as the Salado and the Leon Creek. Also the San Antonio River that runs under Loop 410 on the southside is good. I have caught several bass 14 to 16 inches in length there using rooster tails and jigs. I caught a bass two weeks ago fishing the SA River that was about 2 pounds using just plain worms. Caught it while fishing for sunfish. As for baits rooster tails, jigs, silver hot spots and rattle traps seem to work for me. Good luck.

Brack can be very difficult most of the time. Too much pressure and poachers; not a lot of hiding places for those fish. There are some nice bass in the SA river, but ya gotta find rock and ledges. In fall and winter throw a small suspending crankbait or jerkbait. If the water is clear, a fluke works great too. Let us know how you do.

Try the natural river area of the park. South of Mulberry between the golf course and the neighborhood. Thats where the better fish seem to be. Also when they stock trout there you can slay them. Make sure you make it to the trout stocking.

Went to Brack today to make sure all my trout gear was in working order then tried some of yalls tips I went down the list with no success (though I could see small bass and bluegill)till finally I came to a small crappie/bluegill style crank bait in chartreuse and caught three small 10-12in bass, better than usual. Thanks!

I love Brackenridge. I go almost every weekend and i always mange to pull out a few bass. Beware though, DO NOT waste youjr time fishing the middle pond in the main entrance. The bass in it are literally impossible to catch because of the pressure.

I haven't been there in over ten years. TPWD will stock that location Jan. 11 with trout and that's the best time to fish. Other than that good luck with the over-fished area. Millers Pond is just as over-fished, yet it's stocked every two weeks till March.
