I'm sure this has been addressed a few times, but I'd like to share what I do and see everyone elses ideas.

I like to use the very soft dip/cheese baits, but hate to use sponges/hook springs and tubes. What I do is have my dear wife collect our dryer lint and I use the fiber from it and mix it into the dip baits, basically making it a punch-type bait. This way, I can use all the different flavors of dip bait and still be able to keep it on a hook. Seems to work great.

This is why I use it. I'd like to try cat-tails, but I can't remember the last time I saw any.

Mr. Whiskers already has the cattails in the bait when you buy it. Hot 105 temps makes any of them runny adding cattails helps but not as much as keeping them in the cooler. Get an old one without a top and put a bag of ice and sit it on top of the ice. You will not want a top on it since you will be catching so many fish you will get tired of opening it every few min. lol.
