To bad you shot it, round eyes= non-venomous unless coral snake. The hog nose snake has a viper head, and if you looked into it's mouth you would not see fangs, but techniqualy they have rear fangs that pop frogs when they swell up. They will also spread out there head and neck to look larger somthing like a cobra does. I can't see the pic of your snake because my work blocks pics on here. Also diamond shape head does not always= viper head

The hognose has a hog nose, which I don't see here. I'm leaning more toward water snake like previous posters have mentioned. Non-venomous snakes still have teeth but they're ridges, even if pointed ridges, going in two lines distally, not actually fangs. Not that it really matters if the head's gone, but it'd help in ID-ing.

...Which I'd look for with gloves, by the way, because dead hot snakes can totally still stick you.
