Hi there. Im pretty new to fishing and never fish in the winter. With the upcoming school break I was think about taking to the water in my kayak. The only lake i'd be able to fish would be Canyon Lake.

I've heard good things about fishing with a jig in the winter months and wanted some advise from ya'll guys.

I think the title says what I'm asking ...

Thanks, Kevin.

He said Canyon lake, not Choke Canyon. But yea...I wouldn't wanna pit a 'yak against a gator ANY day! scared As for jigs stick witch natural colors, grns, brwns, and work them SLOW! Good trailers for these are YUM craws, Powerbait chigger craws, or Zoom speed craws. thumb

Green pumpkin football head is a great place to start. Zoom jig trailers are good, and I like Strike King Rage Craws (both the full size and the baby size). I would like to say that I think football head jigs are great for fishing all structure, not just deep, offshore structure.
