Jigum has the best quality hand tied jigs Ive ever witnessed a fella tie, he uses only the premo part of the feather, the finest jig hooks available, the tough powdercoat method, and ties them in such a way that they will take a beating and still catch fish. I watched Matthew tie me some , and they are excellent.
As far as plastics, the LFT are good baits, and catch big crappie, kind of spendy though, and tear pretty easy.
The best tube jigs I like are the 2 inch rocky tops, in chart/black.. Limetruese, chart/white.
Check out finny tribes store ,, they got all the good stuff.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Jigums for hand tied, no one else compares IMHO. Try his pink / chart / chart...it caught fish for me on every lake I've fished this year. Matt tied the first one I fished and one day when he & I were fishing CC I tied it on after breaking off another color. That was in June IIRC and there's been one tied on one of my rods ever since.

When it comes to plastics my tackle ho'ness shows badly....Rocky Tops, LFT Baby Shad, and now Slab Bandits have all put fish in the boat for me. Rocky Tops last forever, don't buy too many like I did a couple of years ago as it's not unusual to fish the same bait all day if you don't break it off. LFT Baby Shad is a great bait and I really like the scent but the durability isn't as good as the others, having said that they DO catch fish. Slab Bandits may be my new favorite plastic. So far they seem to combine the best of the other two.

Confessions of a tackle whore

Just my opinion and I'm no one of any consequence so take it for what it is worth.

I am a tackle whore. I have to have one of everything. A new whoodinky comes out and people around here all go 'Harumph. Harumph. Its the best.' So I go out and by $50 worth. Now the whoodinky becomes my new favorite goto bait. Yes I catch fish with it because that is now what I am using.

Am I catching more fish than I was when I was using the old and unimproved whoodinky? I don't really know, but I don't think so. I do know than now since I am using the new whoodinky in 31 different flavors I am not using the whoodinkys from 8 other lure makers in 31 different flavors. I know those catch fish too, I've seen me do it. I just am not using them because I bought the new stuff.

All I'm really saying is everyones stuff works and could really endorse everyones products, not that they would want me to. You have to believe in the lure to have the patience to keep with it or you'll end up like me constantly retying when others are fishing. Pick a few brands and stick with them or risk becomming like me. Hauling a suitcase of lures to the lake.

I am in the process of moving and I can follow the years by the quadzillion of a certain plastic bait I have. Crappie Thunders, Crappie Pro solid bodies, and my favorite plastic...Yums. I quit using many plastics in favor of my hand-tied.

A plus from Matthew (besides tying a superb jig) is if you tell him where you fish mostly, he can give some really good insight to colors that work in that particular lake at just about any season.

They're always biting on the jig/color/body that you don't have!
