Does anyone know of a boat ramp on LOP that that has a handicap accessible pier/ramp? My dad is confined to a wheelchair so I have to have a launch that allows him to "roll" on to a pontoon boat. Thanks!

I don't know if the public ramp over look is to high or not might want to check with the corp up there.

I have only been to LOP once and I am only familiar with the boat ramp on the west side of the dam. Where is the overlook public ramp? We use boards to get Dad from the dock onto the boat. The boat and dock do not have to be level.

The light weight ramps that 4 wheelers use for pickups might work. You could beach the front of your pontoon boat on the ramp and use the ramps on the front.

there'd be a shortage of fishing poles

The dock at Brushy Creek adjacent to the launch ramp might work. You would still need a pc. of plywood or ramp to span a short distance from dock to ramp.

A lot of pontoon boats have a fence with a gate to the side. You might think about converting the gate to a let down ramp.

Sorry I meant to day: short distance from dock to boat, not dock to ramp.

Overlook is your best bet. Alley creek, Johnson creek, Hurricane creek, Overlook park, Lakeside park and Brushy creek all have wheel chair accessible courtesy docks. I recall some of the ramps got bent last year because of the high water/flooding but for the life of me I can't remember which ones.

Thanks everyone for the info. I am going to take a trip over to scout some ramps. Dad only has one arm that works, but he still loves to fish. Normally we have his boat at Cypress/BB in Benton, LA. which I have all set up for him however the lake was drawn down so I had to take it out of the boathouse until the water comes back up. I have been able to get him on the Red River, Cross Lake (shreveport) and Caddo. He wants to try to get on LOP. I will make it happen! I remember all the times when I was a kid it was never to much trouble to take me fishing. Now I get to pay him back!

If you need a hand on a weekend PM me and I'll see if I can meet you at a ramp for loading/unloading.
