It looks like I'm going to be stuck at Keller or Hurst. No Veterans park stocking this year. mad
I guess this is part of cities cutting their budget, they can't afford to pay for them or something. Or is this all controlled by TPWD?

So let me ask a question that's been burning a hole in my brain. There are two locations on the Trinity River that are being stocked again this year, no big deal. BUT, the Trinity river is contaminated and there is a consumption ban on fish caught there. So if I go there and catch some Trout, are they contaminated too? Am I violating the ban on keeping fish?

hmmm I know I would not eat them that would solve the ban issue for me. If you do not like a crowed bank and you are fishing for sport might not be a bad spot.

stocking the trout there seems like a big waste of trout and finances. why stock them somewhere that has a ban when its sposed to be a put and take fishery? i would assume they would become contaminated not long after they've been stocked?

What a big fat hose job. Arlington got completely ignored this year. They are dumping 4000 trout in to a river w/ a consumption ban on it and putting another 1700 into a park that is closed half the time and the pond is in ruff shape due to drilling. (Kennedale)

Thanks for nothing TP&W.

Yup the way TP&W runs is pretty rough. I remember them not hitting the posted dates, they were both early and late in some cases.

So everyone agrees, it would be a bad idea to eat them? That's what I was thinking too.

I've never eaten a Trout before, I was just really curious as to why they would put them in contaminated water in the first place and then tell people to catch/eat them. Sounds kinda stupid to me.

I agree with Get, you could eat the trout. Its similar to the fish in RC moving up from Hubbard. Its just the ones near the treatment plant that taste like diesel...

The trout stamp is part of the freshwater licence package, you need it unless you are in a state park. Some of the trout are in ponds some are stocked below dams .The trout will only last if water conditions are right .
