I am headed to Corpus for Thanksgiving, hope to be able to fish on Friday. Will probably go to Bob Hall Pier as I really do not know where else to go. I Bass fish so am at a loss for saltwater but wish to give it a try. Will be going to Corpus a couple of times a year to see grandkids. Any help with rodline, and hook type, also baits would be greatly appreciated.

most of your bass rod/reels will do fine for the pier unless you're lookin to tangle with some bull reds or sharks. 15-20lb is fine. if you have some bigger rods/reels bring em. hooks i usually go with owner circle hooks. 2/0 is fine for shrimp and maybe scale up to a 6/0 or 8 for mullet or piggy perch. whole finger or cut larger mullet works great(live being best and fresh dead 2nd). shrimp fresh dead works fine and is a little easier on the wallet. you dont have to be on the end to catch good fish. try to fish on an incoming or outgoing tide will be best. the reds still should be cooperating and theres alot of sheepshead and black drum around there. check www.corpusfishing.com and look on the left there will be a link on bobhsll reports thats ususlly pretty current. good luck and tight lines.

I would make sure to take a net with a long handle cause its a big reach from on the pier to the water.
You dont want to pop the line trying to bring the fish ove the railing

you can get a pier net at academy for not too much. its a net with a rope on it you drop down so you dont have to worry about broken lines. unless its a big drum, red or shark you shouldnt have to worry too much though.
