Found some Danny Kings at Pace Bend store. Took it down to the flats on Travis and the catfish were biting. I am now a DK believer!
going to the pedernales now to try it again.

I tried it for the first time this weekend at Lake Palestine and we had a blast. I got it at a store on the lake and got ripped off but it really worked well. I chummed the area we were fishing with range cubes and then came back about 30 minutes later. Then every 20 minutes I would throw about 5-6 cubes and let them splash the water. the bite would pick right back up. I will do this again!!!

Remember he said he got ripped off at a "store on the lake"... Glad to hear someone is having a good day on the lake. Halfway to the lake I had to turn around because my daughter felt sick. She is ok but...... I'm a junkie in need of a fix. I think she gets motion sick now... How did this start happening? We drive all over this dang state.

Yea Yea Yea. I am a tight wad but the reason I only added 5-6 cubes is that I want them to go for the punch bait not a whole bag of cubes. I'll give it to you for busting me though.
Another reason for adding the cubes is for the noise. Small rocks would work. The cats are accustomed to hearing the Comorant poop hit the water and thats why you want to make a little noise with the cubes. I told my buddies this and they didn't believe me until they saw it. When the bite slowed down we'd chum and they would come. Tight Wad??? You should meet my buddy Wickman. He was making 64K and driving a truck that he paid $50 for.....just because someone told him he wouldn't do it. 11000 miles and 13 months he financed it to a bum for $600. Thats tight.

ScoooooooooooterGGGGGGG Have you tried Gibbons? All I catch with DK bait is minners to barely keeper channels! I really want to try the upper part of Livingston. I know there's bigger fish in there!
Fishing is a jerk at one end of the line, waiting on a jerk at the other end...and I'm proud to be one of 'em.

I don't normally fish for catfish with rod and reel and this was my first time with DK bait. All of the fish we caught were keepers but just barely. I think shad or cut drum would be better in Gibbons creek. I only fish for crappie in that lake and usually in January. It's not that great of a lake but I have seen some impressive stringers of cats come out of there. I have heard of better catches this year from Somerville. I may try the area acroos the lake from Birch creek SP in the trees the same way as in LP. I think it should be pretty good until May when the crowds show up.

I hear ya! Gibbons is tough for most species. There's cats in there and I've done well on shad for good blues, but the little ones will steal you blind. Crappie are there too, but not as good as Somerville (size wise). I just refuse to go to Somerville on weekends when all the lake fleas show up. Good luck...hope to wet a line myself Thursday.

Went fishing this past weekend and caught a beautiful 6 pound channel. Good Eating!!!!! That's cool, but I personally prefer to use a bait that will catch me a dozen three pound channels. Now that's good eating!!!! ================================================ I'm just messing with you Debra....Welcome to kitty fishing. It's the greatest challenge on the water.

Come on Mike, you know you could catch a dozen with that bait, if you only used one pole.

Danny King's is the best creek/river catfish bait I've ever used. But I wonder, is it any good fished under a cork around boathouses, etc.? Anyone ever tried it?

Fowlplayr, you can catch kitties with punch bait anywhere.
When I hear folks say punch bait doesn't work for them, I know they aren't doing it right.
I have used most all the brands and they are all good if you know how to use them. The only thing about DK using it the way you ask. You must put some type of weight (split shot at least), because I think it's the only punch bait I've ever found that will actually float a bare hook rig. There are times this floating characteristic is a real advantage.

My girl developed this deal at age 3 and ever since if she has anything MILK before we go, I am cleaning the truck up! Now we just do toast and water before we ride. Then when we get thre, we have a snack and life is good.
