This is my first time to make bait and I need a little help getting started.

1. is it better to mix in a little of everything or just stick to one main ingrediant.
2.I want to make a cheese bait what is the best kind of cheese.
3.are catails the only thing I need to make it nice and sticky.

for any bridgeport catfisherman, me and lakebridgeport guide had a little contest between sureshot and danny kings' danny didnt get a sniff 5-0 in favor of sureshot. but I stirred in some native gizzards and started catchin fish the next day

It aint as easy as your thinking and is a pain in the arse to make. You can get a gallon of SS for $20 and I promise you it will cost you at least that to get one gallon of decent bait.

It is quite complicated to do it and do it right.

If this is still something you want to try, hollar at me on the phone and I will give you some direction.

MY ADVICE: JUST BUY SOME!

I have never tried to make punch bait, but I have used several different brands. Last week I was on vacation on lake palestine and did nothing but catfish with trotlines and rod/reel. We used the bait that Redneck is selling for both. After setting up on a spot it would take ten to fifteen minutes for the cats to home in on the punch bait and then it was pretty quick action after that.
When I bought it from Redneck, he was keeping it in his freezer. That not only keeps the stuff in good condition, it holds down the stench pretty good as well! We put ours back in the fridge between trips.
I give it two thums up!

IT'S LIKE MAKING WINE--THE VERY BEST YOU CAN MAKE ISN'T AS GOOD AS THE VERY WORST AND CHEAPEST YOU CAN BUY. Also, significant other is much happier. I burned up her new mixer making a batch.

I'm always up for a good debate, and Hog Wild probably doesn't have the best reputation in the world, but these baits wouldn't be for sale if they didn't work. Just because they haven't worked for you doesn't meen they won't work. Granted it has NOT worked on any metro lakes, at least I haven't found it to, but I have caught the living day lights out of fish on this stuff in East Texas. My best luck has been to dip a live worm in it and tight line. If you have some, try it, you may be surprised... maybe not, who knows.

Same thing goes for other baits as well. Can't hardly catch a thing near the metro on Charlie, except Tawakoni. Was in E. Texas this past weekend and wore them out on Charlie. Took some DK's along and they wouldn't touch the stuff. Different lakes, different techniques.

Sorry, but I've got to stick up for good ole Jerry....SUUUUUUNNNNNN!

Fish, you can order cheese from Catfish Connection 5gal/aprox.30lbs. for bout 22 bucks. We made enough for two years an I still got cheese. We mixed cheese, chopped shad, and cattails in the original batch, added some shrimp stuff to one and oil of anise to yet another. They all worked, and it was fun to catch cats on "my" bait. There is an important preperation step for the shad if you're intrested.I noticed you were fishin BP,that's my home lake and this stuff works here.BTW: I've found Bridgeport cats prefer Benny over Danny (IMO).good luck,mb
