Keeping up with Fish Zombies' "Info-Threads", lets talk about the essential yak-fishing gear designed for non yak-fishing activitys. To start us off,

Got water in the hull? Cup-holder full of LAKE? Bird carp on deck?
Try a $1.97 Grouting Sponge(Home Depot,Lowes,ACE), it soaks up a pant-load of water...and comes in an attractive YELLOW color. A coupe manufacturers sew them into mesh bags and charge $15 bucks, stupid gear nazis!

Why do I have Billy Mays' voice in my head when I read this?

I use sham-wow's instead of the sponge, they get up more water with less effort. One thing I do not see in a lot of kayaks is a first aid kit, I use a small water proof one in a pouch from the kayak section at academy that will get me by in a pinch.

How about a Sham-Wow on parachute chord. Not sure why just seemed like an appropriate post.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I got this from the cleaning isle of Wally Mart($2.38...thank you Mr. Rollback grin), it cleans the mud/whatnot off my waders/watershoes before I swing my legs over(I like my deck slimy, but not dirty!) and also gets the invasive species off my hull between bodies of water. No worries about a string on this one, it floats thumb

Farsouth - you see that hole in your kayak - why is it there?? To let out the water that gets in your kayak. Now my kayak doesn't have one because it doesn't get water in it in the first place. To Quote You "it cleans the mud/whatnot off my waders/watershoes before I swing my legs over(I like my deck slimy, but not dirty!)" No hole means I don't spend $150 on waders or watershoes either. And you say your kayak beats a W500 in EVERY WAY?? IN WHAT WAY??

Your W500 doesn't get water in it cause your too weak/fagile to use it in rain/surf. Stay on topic there popeye, Im not in the mood to scoll through your W500 speeches on this thread thumb

Well fold cat, this other gentleman laughing at you and myself were recently paddling IN A TROPICAL STORM. An adventure your W500 is INCAPABLE of supporting, you would have been swimming back to safety...BEST CASE SCENARIO. Face it, you bought catamaran shaped poly canoe...and you over paid banana

One more for the city folk, cost $2-$3 at any Hardware store. Squeeze some on the ground, set the whole tube on top of that, and light it up. Long burning, hot fire. Even when its wet out. Handy to keep in your hull, especially if one of your idiot buddies falls in freezing water...way to far from the truck cheers Put some pieces of soaked 2x4s on top of that sticky burning mess, and they will dry and burn in time to save someones life.
Its Liquid Nails, helps if you also keep a Bic lighter in your dry box...doesn't take a spark so well/can inhibit function of manual firestarting devices.
