The fewer they sell, the more they charge. Make sense??

If someone would offer a plain jane, stripped down, solid color 21ft'er with nothing but a fuel & water pressure gauge for around 30k, they wouldn't be able to build them fast enough. Quality doesn't have to suffer, just cut out all the BS options no one "needs" to begin with.

I will Never buy new. Wayyyyy too much initial depreciation for my finances. Used boats work very well for me!
The skeeter team guys usually fish their boats 2 years and have all the scheduled maintenance performed like they should... That will be my route!

I'm guilty of buying a new boat this year. I shopped around and feel like I got a good deal. Sure I'll take a depreciation hit, but I tend to hold on to my boats longer than most. I bought my last boat in 1998 and plan on keeping this boat for a long time. For me, there's just something about knowing you're the first time owner and getting the colors and options you desire.
Also, I didn't pay anywhere near 60K for my 20XS with a Merc 250 Pro XS.

It's all about what people will pay. A good looking prostitute will charge 10 times more than an ugly one(not speaking from experience). You get the same result at the end though. grin If people will stop buying boats with every option under the sun they will make more reasonable boats with what you need on them. Boats don't need 300 hp engines.

Where does it end? In 10 yrs we will all be sitting back wondering how we ever got around with a small dainty 250 hanging off the back..

Pull up the boat shop, and they will all 350's hanging off the back, and then the argument about the 70 mph mark, is now the 90 mph debate

Soon the used market will rise because as fewer boats are sold (70 % Off)the good used ones will become of more value - it's the same in the auto business- slow sales then a few years later the used cars are up in value- the new boats are about the same price as the last two years - boats and all such toys are the worst thing for investments - if you have to look at it like that then there will never be a justification - it has to be chump change or it's not worth the pain - that's a fact

Until I can send my mail, sleep, and cook dinner in my boat there is no way I'm paying that much.

I payed just over that for my 3 bedroom house.

I've had four boats in my life. Three were bought used and one new. The new one is the only boat I didn't come out on, lost $10,000. If you look long enough, you can find some really nice boats 1-4 yrs old that will last a long, long time w/ proper maintenance. I will never own a brand new boat again!

If that is the case...then Ken Addington would be driving 120mph...

Makes you wonder why so many boat builders and boat dealers are going under. What's so hard about selling boats for 55 - 60k??? Motor manufacturers are also to blame. Consider the retail for a 250 hp outboard to a 300+ hp car engine. And, which will last longer?
