I have dipped and smoked since middle school and nnow at 27 feel i need to quit so i can be around later for my kids (lost my first grandparent this year and it was due to smoking)so i got some zyban,(cold turkey doesnt work for me) and i have 9 days down. good luck to all of you and i will be coming back here to read your stories for my inspiration.

Welcome to the group - we're happy to have you here.......

Best thing I can pass on at this point is: It's all between your ears. When the craving hits, dismiss and distract. Dismiss it by channeling your brain elsewhere - I used the Serenity Prayer - some times over, and over, and over - until my head didn't feel like it was going to explode any more. At the same time distract the oral fixation with something else - I used sugar-free cough drops - they last about as long as a cigarette and they worked for me. (Along with the desire to stop using for the last time)

As far as the dip - I defer to previous "dipsters" for experience, strength & hope quitting the dip.

This is a great time for you to stop using tobacco & be a good role model for your kids.

Again, welcome.......

Oh yeah! I was a smoker/dipper since middle school too... Stopped smoking but cont to dip about 4 years ago... I have used sunflower seeds to quit dipping before but this time I have been using big red gum... The intense cinnamon works wonders!!! Got the tip on here somewhere! Best of luck!
