We have had a problem numerous times down in the bay around Corpus. All different locations. Someone always seems to walk up and keep getting closer, no fishing gear but asking questions and being pretty stupid I guess is the word for it. We have had to show the conceal carry weapons a few times, usually deters any more BS. Be safe out there

And I thought the jerks buzzing you on their jet skis were bad. I've never been assaulted but have had stuff stolen while camping.

No just making light of the SR-9, 1 month from its launch to the public it was recalled for a bad safety, this was just after the LCP had been recalled, Old man Ruger would never had built, and marketed such crappy guns.
I will be back. I'm never truly gone.....Last post by Brad RIP

I still got part of his pants hanging in the shop. Thats funny. You should have them mounted. "There's the trophy buck I got in S. Texas. Thats my trophy bass from Ray Bob....and next to that the seat of some a-holes pants that tried to knife me." my wife had a staletto of a girl on the mantle for a while, stupid girl bit off more than she could chew
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst

Up at Cedar Creek , North end creeks, and a couple illegals walked up on me. They werent mexican by their language they were from further south. One stood infront of me with a bunch of small talk , they had no fishing gear only beer, while the other tried to stay behind me checking out all my gear. It was dark and there was no one else around. Right as I got to the point to tell them to move on a car pulled up and they quickly left. the car pulled up and left and as soon as it did they came back walking up through the bushes. By this time I had my pistol in plain site at my hip and they did not have much of anything to say and quickly left. Then later that night I here talking getting closer and closer , while there are no cars passing and its pitch black out there. They get close enough that they see me(my shadow with lake in backround) and start walking up to me, 2 girls 1 guy, Yelling hey give me a ride. I lit them up with my 3 million candle power light and the stopped in their tracks. Still very persistent for me to give them a ride. I told them the only help I could give them was to call the cops to give them a ride and it was in their best interest to start moving on. A little later the cops came by lighting up the area looking for something, I guess some one else called the cops. Besides all that and no fish the dang rats kept creeping up on me trying to get my bait ,lol. About 2:30 am I left.

Not fishing related but was riding my mountain bike up in Arkansas and was probably 13 miles from any trial head. Saw a guy carry a knife and a cat. I stopped and hollered, "what are you going to do with that cat" He answers back "I'm going to cut it's head off and bury it"
Another time on a different trail, probably fifteen miles in the trail I look up a ridge and there is this guy in a black duster just staring at me.
Weird people out there. Be careful.

I go down to my local creek a lot, scratching that fishing itch midweek when I don't have time to drag the boat to the lake. It's a big hangout during the summer for all kinds of idiots, usually drunk, sometimes up to no good, looking for a fight. I stay to myself, usually pick a spot where I can't see them and they can't see me, and fish. There've been a couple of instances where I unzipped my fishing vest pocket to make sure my .45 Colt Commander was readily available, but haven't found it necessary to pull it out... hope I never do. Take that weekend off from fishing and go get your CHL, guys.

I was fishing one night in San Antonio at Calaveras back before I had a boat, from the bank (obviously) and I was in a lull (stupor) and suddenly these two guys were upon me, talking smack and being very loud. They kept getting closer and closer and I was thinking maybe this is a good time to show them my fishing license.

Take that weekend off from fishing and go get your CHL, guys. I still gotta wait a year till I can get mine. Id love to be able to conceal carry but getting robbed beats an underage weapons charge any day

Id love to be able to conceal carry but getting robbed beats an underage weapons charge any day +1 and that will ruin your chances of a CHL later. Be aware of your surroundings until then so your not in that situation.

As a kid we had some crazy person chase us through the woods while we were trying to fish Bonham SP years ago. I was young enough that I just remember dad telling me to run to the car and him behind me. Told me to not tell mom. Guess, he figured we couldn't go again. Just a vague memory.

The very first time I fished Rowlett creek at night I went with no light. It was pitch black and I would hear all kinds of noises. One was a big dog barking about 30 yards away. I think he was with his owner but it was so dark I could not tell. I was afraid to walk down the trail because I could only see about 5 yards ahead of me. Also had a group of hispanic guys walk up on me. They turned out to be very friendly but it was a scary to have a group of men walk up on you when it is pitch black. Use to run trotlines out at Hubbard at night. Never been mugged or assaulted while fishing but have had some instances that made me feel uncomfortable. I have a CHL but I only carry maybe 3% of the time. If you fish from the bank at night you need the comfort of a weapon and a very bright flashlight just in case something goes down.
