Went to the Pines today with my fishin buddy and caught our limit of channel cat! we caught em just passed Alley Creek, drifting in 12.5 feet and using Shrimp soaked over night in vanilla extract, We were done and on our way home buy 11:00 am.. We had a blast, launching at Johnson Creek was fine, water is still pretty deep there. I have fished this lake for over fourty years and I have never seen it this low but the fishin is great, we even caught four big Crappie hanging jigs over the side while drifting..I don't have pics to add cause the camera was at home on the coffe table, good place for it huh.. cheers

Chanell limit is 10 over 12"? Been so long I forgot. And that reminds me I need a new fishing license. I hate the end of August. Dang vehicle license is due; fishing license is due; need a front end alignment; need a new tire! Can ya still fish off the bank with a cane pole and worms with out a license?
Be cheaper to go to Long John Silver's and pretend I went fishing.

Hey Donnie,
Did you ever go back to Martin Lake. I had a few good days on Bob Sandlin.

It would be a good time to mark some spots on the pines.

Good to hear from you! I did go back and the first night I fished from one of the bridges, I caught a 10, 15, and 25 pound flathead, after that, the wind got out of the south and the flatheads quit visiting the bridges. I am waiting now for winter to get here and the north wind to blow again. I know where to catch em now, just need the right conditions. Thanks for your help on the lake. We have also caught lots of channel cats too..

Just as you round the point from Alley headed back toward 155 about 300 yards out from bank there is a flat, big flat, 12 and a half foot deep. This is where we caught most of em, seems like the 12.5 feet was the magic depth..I drift this area a lot but usually further toward the Alley Creek beach but right now they are pretty thick where I discribed, good luck, let us know how you do, you should try my vanilla Shrimp, it works great at the Pines..
Check out this map and look for the red dot at Alley Creek.
