What's a good bait for fishing Lake Austin for cats? Something I can get local or sein out of the creek.

Do you know where Onion Creek is at? It's on Highway 183 just south of Bergstrom Airport. Go there and sein up a bucket full of hellgrammites. Use a sein and set it up downstream from a gravel bar and then use a rake to rake the rocks. Usually results in a sein full of mites and cratfish. Good luck.

The best bait I've found for rod and reel fishing is Lewis Kings Punch bait. If you are using a trotline Redneck Soap Bait has been working well around Canyon Lake and the Blanco River...

Another choice would be "Bill's Dip Bait". You can get it at most Academy stores.

I have been using "Sunny's Super Sticky"
It stays on the hook real well and works great

kept getting all my chicken livers pulled off last night... are y'all using spring or sponge type trebles like on some type of sticky bait ?

Trophy_chaser, I get it at Lone Star gun and pawn in Greenville Texas. Thats the only place i have found it..
It is well worth a small drive.. It is $ 9.99 for a bucket..
