I'm not a jugline fisherman but I do have a question concerning them. I assume they simply drift with the wind since they are most likely not resting on the bottom in water that is 50ft deep? What depth are they set at (how long is the line)? Thanks in advance for any info on this topic ------------------ Ed Utley

Ed my weight is sitting on the bottom and the first hook is on bottom and the other hook is about 3 ft. off bottom. I caught 6 cats to 30 LBS today on juglines and limited out on Striper. Capt. Steve http://www.txfishingguide.com

Ed, Most juglines that are used for big cats in these parts of the country are anchored. One pound of weight will do the trick to keep them where they need to be and get a good hookset. The line only needs to be as deep as the water you are fishing, so if you suspect you wil be fishing as deep as 50 feet build the jugs with 55 or 60 feet of line. Any excess line can be rolled around the jug and then secured with a rubber band or a cut piece of bicycle tube. The disadvantage of a free floating jugline is they move. You have to think of how fast and how far a 30+ pound fish can move with the jugline. If you are not sitting right there with them, finding them (especially in the dark) can be a real pain in the arse. Here is some information on building juglines. I also have an article that I can email you with a lot of good tips and tricks as well as detailed instructions if you will email me at RedneckTexan1@msn.om Heres the link: http://www.whiskerkitty.com/Juglines.html ------------------ The Texas Catfishing Resource www.whiskerkitty.com

Go to my site www.whiskerkitty.com and register for the message board and do a search on juglines or jugs and you will find more than you ever wanted to know. Jugline baits I most commonly use are: Shad (dead or cut) Perch (live for apps, cut for blues) Soap Shrimp Soaked in Bills Brains and Cheese www.catfishbait.com Hot Dogs Soaked in Anise Oil (the cheapest fatty hot dogs you can get NOT BEEF) ------------------ The Texas Catfishing Resource www.whiskerkitty.com
