I only keep fish over 16 inchs and no bigger than 8 pounds because only three of us in the family eat fish. I release probaly 95% of the cats I catch and was wondering if there is a rig set up our a hook that will keep me from hooking most of the fish in the corner of the mouth and out the eye? I no cats can survive blind but I would like to return them as healthy as possable. Im using a kahle hook now. Thanks for any help.

Try circle hooks. They hook in the corner of the mouth every time. Just remember ...don't set the hook. Just lean back and reel.

What's the difference in a kahle and circle hook? Will circle hooks work on crappie?
Nate Tight lines!

I've had a lot of trouble with Eagle Claw Circle Sea 6/0 hooking smaller cats in the eye. Haven't had the same problems with kahles. I'm still a big fan of circle because you rairly gut hook one.

The only way is to use a smaller hook.
