Evinrude three years no maintenance required s%$^. Boat and motor in and out of the shop since Sept 23rd and still in the shop. Time to write my letter.

Yep , it says scheduled maintance- lots of lower units and other problems not scheduled I guess

My partner and I both have 225 E-tecs we fish hard and often and have had no issues. His is an 06 model and mine an 07! I wouldnt have any other outboard.

I have an 07 225hp E-tech. It is the biggest piece of Sh4848t I have ever seen, read, or heard about in my life. And of course with the boat so new and the market sucky can't sell the boat for payoff. Would cost me about 3k to get rid of the thing so i'm stuck with it. Worst piece of [censored] anyone could ever hope to own. I've gone through 9 injectors, (among 4 other warranty claims not related to injector) and instead of admitting there is a problem with the motor the just keep telling me sir thats what the warranty is for, and we'll fix it. Then they do, and 2 months later, all over again!!

I've had my ETec 18 months now with no problems...the Mercury that preceeded it twisted the drive shaft into and blew the power head with 30 days left on the warranty. I think it's true that they all can have problems....I'd had several Mercury's before with no problems...Good Luck!

Bought the engine Mar 08. Never had an issue until Sep 10 when the capacitor went out. Since than just small issues. Engine runs great when at idle. Mechanic thinks it is the EMM but they have to do things the rep tells them. At least it is still under warranty until April 2013. If not fixed soon, I write to the president of BRP. Have done that in the past and I get answers real fast. Hopefully will not have to take that next step.

Google E-TEC and the net, lots of issues

All motors have issues. They all blow and have problems, just part of why they cost 20K I guess??? It is a shame but no matter the brand, someone will always have more problems than another guy with the same engine. I have friends that have blown Mercs, Yamahas, and Rudes and all claim they will never buy another one....

Yamaha cant go wrong with them best engine you can get IMO.

Well, went to the Marine dealer today. they called Evinrude while I was there. I told them I would talk to the rep if he got no results. Well,they finally gave them a return authorization and they sent out my EMM today. Should have it back nexst week. Now, maybe we will know more of the problem. The rep did not want talk to me.

Did they ever pay out the bonus monies. for people that won tourneys with their engines
