Prairiedog, Funny you should ask, I have 20 of those and they work great. Jugs by Bert - http://www.jugsbybert.com/ Met Noel at the Houston Fishing Show back in 2000 and got hooked on them! I bought some of the red/yellow ones to fish in my pond and the white ones for public waters. Chris

Chris That guy is a rip off. I checked his site out and noticed the pic of the white jug was one of my dads off his site.(With 30 feet of line on this jug..........You can't fish 10 feet deep!! What would you do with the extra line? You can't fish 70 feet deep either!!!) I can tell this guy has never used the rig we use. Say we put 50 feet of line on a jug and say we was to fish 5 foot of water well all we do is put on our weight and hooks drop the weight down and when it hits bottom just wrap the line around one time and pull the rubber band over the line so that now the line is going straight up and down NOT LAYING ON THE BOTTOM. (Fishing in 15 foot deep with 30 feet of line on your jug? What happens to the extra 15 feet of line? It lays on the bottom!!) NOT TRUE. (How can you tell if a fish has hit "this" jug? The only way you can tell if a fish has hit this jug is if the fish in "ON" and pulling it under the water. You will never know if a fish has hit it and taken your bait.) If a fish hits the line and its big it will cause the rubber band to release line and the jug will start flipping and if a fish can pull a anti-freeze jug under water its gonna be a whale. well sorry just had to vent personally just looking at that rig they wouldnt last very long with the abuse we give our jugs. heres the link to my dads site on how to make a home made rig http://members.aol.com/jackfish7/jugline.html

Jugs by Bert have a simple catch on the top to attach the line to once you've set the line (no extra line lying on the bottom). The jug itself will tell you if you've had a bite or a fish on since both sides are entirely different!
Just because you check out a site doesn't mean the equipment will not work, unless you've used them yourself. I along with several others have used them and caught plenty of fish without any line lying on the bottom. Each time we had a hit or a fish, the jug side would be flipped over. If you're unable to determine which side should be up when a fish is on, mark it.
Sure, everyone wants to push their own equipment and get it out there in front of the public...there's nothing wrong with that and I'm not saying one is better than the other. Everyone has their preference or a combination of several. Some have even gone to copying jugs (making their own) that are from one or other folks on here, for a much cheaper price plus it's becomes self-rewarding.
Have a great week, Chris

Well there is a problem with him takeing pictures off my dads site, without permission. ive never used the jugs, but for the rig we use it only cost a couple bucks to make sevral rigs that will last years. we leave our jugs out for long periods of time im not sure how u would find those jugs at night. plane white anti freeze jugs are fairly easy to spot at night due to there size. the said that the exact rig that we use the line will sit on the bottom which it will not and also said u cant fish shallow since u have 50 feet of line??? why he thinks that i dont understand aperntly hes never used the rig.

James, Bud, I did not know that of Noel, and with him scouting/scalping pictures from another website is no different than plagerizing(sp)and yes, I would be highly irriatated too!!
I've used your design before with swivels cause I got tired of having blues and channels twisting off so much...and yea, they're cheap to make and hold up better, just take up a lot of room.
I always say, if something can be made cheaper and is less worry and produces the same or better, use it.
I do apologize to you if I offended you in any way in my prior reply.

I wasn't offended just wanted to get my point across that the rig does work I have pics to prove it but i do know what you mean about the space they take up. If I was you i wouldnt use swivels they cause to much trouble and can come apart with a big fish on.

The swivels I'm using are Sampo swivels and are rated for 250#...now I have broke them trying to free a hung-up line before. Yep, they are expensive, but I dealt with the sales rep. when I was teaching fishing a few years back.
