Went the other day but was carp fishing. Just because it's fun. Caught 9 carp and 6 little channel cats. Other than that it's a good crappie lake if there biteing big crappie bit if there not biteing it's very slow. And for bass your best bet is go somewere else. Suagey if you catch one you will be one of the few. Have fun. And post your report when you get time I would like to hear of it picking up.

Goto the spill way at Fort Phantom. There are alot of fish in that area now. Best bait is fresh shad, followed by dead shad. If you can not get shad stop at the gas station right by the boat launch and buy some bass minnows.

Went out to kirby for about three hours on sunday fishing for cats. Had no luck. Tried liver this time and had a few bites. Been out there many times and seem to have bad luck. Any advice for kirby or phantom would be helpful. I seem to have horrible luck at both places. Love to fish, just cant catch any species at either lake.

I usually go near the boat dock near bushes, I've had success with dip bait w/ sponge hook, dead shad, and chicken liver. I mostly use treble hooks as well. I haven't had any luck with bass when I do use minnows..

Thanks for the advice. I will have to try my luck near the boat dock next time and hopefully have catch a few.

If you dont go to the Phantom spill way your really missing out on great fishing this time of year. Shad casted all the way out into the flats.

How far do I need to wade out to get to them at the spillway or is the good fishing only reachable by boat? I amy have to try again with your talks of how good it is there.

I might try the spillway soon as well. Are you fishing the shad on the bottom?
