Is there any laws about using carp caught in a cast net for bait. I caught about a 12 incher the other day, but already had plenty of shad.

Use it, perfectly legal. Carp are not a game fish.

Not a gamefish, and it holds the hook better than most other baits, very tough skin.

Your right better to be safe than sorry I'm always careful and try my best to stay legal, but in this day with all the new laws, seems as though you have to drag a lawyer with you no matter what your doing. Recent example was on Cooper about 7 weeks ago game wardens pulled us over 20 min. before official sundown to hassle us over not having our lights on. Just an excuse to check us out. mad Ruined that last 25 minutes of great hybrid top water bite right before the sun went down.

Tom and I were on Lavon a couple of weeks ago and the gamewarden pulled up and told me we couldn't clean fish on the lake, and we told him it was a buffalo we were using for bait, he acted like he didn't understand that, but he went on anyway, he was probably laughing at us for using the buffalo, but that's ok!!!

Yep nothing they can do about non game fish or bait. But they did clarify the rules about cleaning fish. I have seen guides in the past that would clean fish tied up to the dock in their boat or clean fish on the dock, now the rules say no , now you must clean them on land. Still the funniest thing I have heard yet is the EPA saying throwing fish guts in the lake is polluting the waters.I,m glad I,m not a scientist from the government. loco_2 Kinda like the EPA now saying CO2 is a polluting gas, wait a minute wasn't that what I was taught in grade school, is what plants take in to produce Oxygen.
