got back from a fishing trip and thought I'd post up a report for others that might be considering a trip. We were mainly after bull reds but each used one light pole for smaller species while we waited on reds.
Fished pier, packery channel and surf. At the pier, action was slow but reds were being caught from mid pier to the t. Biggest we saw caught was about 30pounds and our biggest was right at 20 pounds. We were fishing with fresh caught mullet and whiting. Also fished dead shrimp on bottom and caught a few small trout, and misc baitfish.
Packery channel was pretty slow with crabs causing problems for us. Surf was nice first day but got rough later on so pier was better option for us. Also checked out the jetty which was very crowded and some nice reds being caught.
We were also hoping for some flounder on shrimp but didn't find any. Had one large fish strip us at night on a penn 330GT and never got it turned. Probably a large shark.
was a fun trip overall even though we didn't get one of the huge reds this time.
