I have not been out fishing for about a month now and I was just wonderin if anyone had any reports on bull reds in the surf in the corpus area. I have some frozen mullet in my freezer will that work or should i get some live? Thanks for the help.

No report but live bait is always better!

We did pretty good at the packery channel a couple weeks ago. No bull reds though, nothing but slot reds and trout!
Live mullet was the bait.

Frozen mullet is for backup only. Get live mullet when ever you can. Fresh cut will work to.

I just got back from port aransas and reds were biting but kinda scattered. My biggest was about 20 pounds but I saw a fisherman land a nice 30+ pounder. We tried the pier by the channel one day and the packery the next. Both about the same although the pier was easy to catch mullet, croaker and whiting on dead shrimp so much handier. Caught my large red on a freshly caught whiting.
