I have been watching my boys catch some really good bass in the backyard using live Bream. The water is clear enough that I can watch the Bass track the Bream and then blow 'em up. What I have noticed is the Bass don't really pay to much attention to the bream if they are actively swimming around, but once they get tired and start to float on their sides the Bass nail them. Then last week I was using a rattle trap in Bream colors, yo-yoing it and caught 2 Bass over 5. This all got me thinking. Why not make a Bream soft bait that has clear Senko type ends on either side to use as a wacky type bait. Just getting the Bream to float down with the action of the ends moving back and forth would be a killer. Then you could also fish it really slow to keep the bait in the zone for a long time. What do ya'll think?

Give it a shot and keep it to yourself until you get a patent if it works.

They are right that baits been in production for a while. Don't give up brainstorman though, thats what keeps it fun and @ times profitable. Danny

Not quite what I was thinking about. That thing lays on it's side and is fished like a jig. What I am thinking about is something like a Mattlures perch that is a bit smaller and has some arms on either side similar to Senkos. The goal is to wacky rig it like a senko but the main body is a perch of some sort.

Good idea skippy. The creme fishfrog or vice-versa is the closest thing I'm aware of to your idea, but not quite what you want.

As for the Lateral Perch, the quarter ounce version falls very slowly. Not as slow as a wacky rigged soft plastic, though.

Make it, patent it, pay a couple big names to fish with it and you will be in the money!

What rod and line do you use for the 1/4 and 1/2 oz for pitching under docks? I got a few I am going to be trying out.

Heaviest flipping stick I own and 25 pound fluoro. You ain't fishing for dinks, bro. That bait will not get you many bites unless you're around some heads. Then you better hang on because they flat inhale it. Plus, you can skip that thing so far under a dock you're gonna need all that might to get a big fish out.

I haven't done it yet, but I think a man could lay his rod xcross and perpendicular to the gunnel of the boat with about 15 yards or so of line out and his button pushed, kneel down and skip that sucker by hand like a rock all the way to the back of a dock. I thought about it after last time out pitching the bait, and will try it next time I'm around some docks. It WILL skip. Only thing is, the hook's so big and sharp you will lose a few hanging them up under docks or on pilings. But I'm still gonna try it LOL!

Good luck and lemme know how you do.

Better tie that rod down, I can see a Bill Dance moment.

Not a bad idea though. Might have to brush up on the swimmin skill, cause I might go in after if it get hung up.
