When it comes to misinformation or disinformation, I sometimes wonder if the percentages of it provided in a sporting goods/outdoors/fly shop is much higher when compared to levels from other types of stores. I learned long ago while shopping at fly shops in Colorado, the "You don't want to fish that creek..." advise often meant "Don't fish one of my favorite places."

I'm doing way too much pondering of late and not enough* fishing.

In years without the minimum flows in effect, or when fishing a stretch of the river that consistently stays above 70 degrees, that is probably the case, but research data from other states and other tailwaters indicate that summer fishing is fine with water temps in the 60s.

If you were fishing in the middle of the day in low flow years in the July-early September range I would tend to agree with them. In years like this past summer, with cooler temps and good flow you can get out and fish early, before the toobers hit the water, land them quickly and keep them in the net and they have a much better chance.

It all comes down to water temps. The warmer the water the less oxygen it can carry. I'm like Mick, if I see temps that are steadily below 70 degrees I will fish away.

How many fish does tpw and grtu stock in the guad every year?

GRTU stocks by weight, not numbers. I believe it was three truckloads last year, about 3,500 lbs per truckload. So about 10,000 lbs of trout. In terms of numbers, given the size of the fish they stock, I'd guess 6-7,000 trout.

Thinking of taking the yak down to the Guad this Saturday to drown some nymphs. Never done the trip before, so I am wondering about where to put in/take out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone is interested on joining me, PM me.

Put in at Rio and take out at Lazy L & L for a nice float over the prime water. Take out at Gardo's or Rainbow camp for an extended float that takes you thru the Ingram Ranch.
