Had a rough time trying to get shad this morn but managed enough in bout of a hour of trying. Beautifull morning slight breeze (till 11 am) water temp 68.7. Caught 12 from 2# to 3# and 1 good un 15.83# all in 15'to 20'. Fish 4 hrs till the wind really picked up for my little boat.

Them are the Best! Um, I mean eatin' size, as to the 15#er. I can make boneless "B" or "8" steaks from the top backstraps, fry em up & they melt in your mouth.
Good Going! Just finished the road & fence project here at the home property today. Now its "Rush" time to get boat & gear ready for Set-out on 21st Sunday there at Limestone (unless bad weather, then might move set-out up to 20th Saturday.
Estimate making it to your side of the bottom of the lake about 9 AM to 10:15 AMish on 21st to set mine first, then move to near dam to set the other (either in my name or my uncle's). Not sure if we will eacvh have a BW & SW lines or if I'll have the 2 BW & he'll have the 2 SW ones. Then we will run a string of jugs on the Near Corner side (Running Branch neck entrance into bottom of lake near the pump station). Can't miss us, as I have a PVC roof frame, corral boards run around boat top edge, and we'll be setting out 3.5 gallon concrete anchors as well as fender floats on each end of trotline ("Planter").

obiewan57,
I live off 21 between Cedar Creek & Navasota River. I take the back roads to Limestone from here & it only takes me an hour at about 55 MPH. TX 21 to North Zulch, north on FM 39 to Robbins, west on TX 7 thru Marque, past 3 river bridges, then north on FM 937 towards Groesbeck, go about 10 miles, then right on LCR 740 to Running Branch Marina (2 miles).
The good thing about RB is that it is off the main lake, and the 15 minute putt-putt thru the No Wake Zone has plenty of fish, just in case too windy for the main lake.
And several of us agree that the Blues out of Limestone cannot be beat for their taste (even over Yellows).
