Another bit of proof that the smart Europeans took the first boat out of there!

Send him my way I have 40' cane growing in my backyard. I have a 22 footer I just cut a couple of weeks ago and have it tied to a straight post to dry for a while before I finish it with stain and polyurethane. Thought about trying to find some ferrules to make it a 3pc pole. Those 40 footers will need a gooseneck trailer to haul them to the lake, otherwise 32 feet will hang out the back of the truck bed.

I have always heard guys that fish with the biggest pole they can find are trying to make up for something.... Possibly no boat on a creek that is only 40' wide? As for myself and my 22 footer I figured I can fish twenty feet out and at least twenty feet deep if need be. Sometimes you try to use a slipcork and the wind keeps putting it back on the bank, but with this setup it will remain stationary. Or another good analogy would be "you can always make it shorter but longer is out of the question", like a bad haircut.

These guys regularly win fishing matches in Europe... The matches are for the most weight in a set time frame; often four hours or so. They fish against more conventionally-outfitted anglers as well as each other. Of course the waters they are fishing are generally much more confined than the large impoundments we are used to, so they would have very limited use over on this side of the pond.
