So, I'm contemplating buying my first Bass boat. I've read a lot about Bass boats over the last couple years, but have heard little about 'Sprint' Bass boats.
It's nineteen foot '98 Sprint Bass Boat that's in immaculate condition. Everything works. Pushing it is a 2004 175 Yamaha with only 30 hours on it.
One owner, local. He's asking $12,000.
What's your opinion?

Too much money for that boat in my honest opinion. Those boats are not made anymore and 12k for a 12 year old boat that probably only cost 30k brand new is too much.

That motor is worth more than the boat.If it is super clean with a tandem trailer good electronics and troll motor I would guess around $8500 would be a fair price. The previous poster is also correct that they are no longer made.

I was thinking that the motor added value to the package, as you allude to. Single axle Magnum trailer w/hydralic brakes, dual Lowrance FFs, MotorGuide troller, butt and backrest seats, two stage stainless prop (3 blades low pitch, 3 blades high), Carlson hand-layed hull, and super clean. Edit: Manual jack plate.

There's a 1998 21' Triton in the classifieds here for $10.5k. I'd look at that before I'd spend $12k on a 19' Sprint. FWIW, that Triton probably isn't in the same condition, but it's all composite and you know there isn't any wood rotting in it.

I had a 19ft 98 Sprint as a backup boat. I got it cheap and I sold it cheap. The main reason it didn't work out for me is that it was slow to plane with a 150hp. My plan was to add some fiberglass to make it more durable and it was already too slow to plane without the extra weight. It was also bad about backwash. If you just shut it down on a plane, it'll get a ton of water over the back. Also, for a 19ft boat, it didn't have a lot of room and I wasn't impressed with the ride. I've got an 18ft aluminum boat with more room and about the same ride.

Yeh, I noticed the backwash tendency.
Thanks for the input, guys.

Too much money. Check book value if you really "need" to buy it since the Bank probably won't go much on that old of a boat. You can find plenty of bigger more stable boats than that one and at a better price.

I would have to agree with all the above...if your willing to pay that then just take your time and find a name brand boat in that price range...its a buyers market this time of year...if you can wait something will come along that will make you a whole lot happier...

The only reason the boat is in immaculant condition is it has not been used.
The Sprint boats are poorly built.
All advice above is good....

I had a sprint for a while, took a little longer to resell but not a bad boat. They do have strong hulls as I found out on Monticello

i just bought a 2001 nitro 19'2 with a 200 mercury optimax for 11k. I think you can get a better deal on a better boat imo.
