If your trailer is like mine, there are no fastners used to hold the flooring. On each end is an angle iron that the ends go under. Cut the 1X6 teated 3/8th inch shorter than the length between the backs of the angle. Then put one end under and bow the board in the middle so it will go under the other angle. Works great till you do the last three or four. Then you will need an engine lift, strap and a helper. Put the strap in the middle, raise it with the hoist then start pushing down on the other end while the helper is raising it with the lift. As soon as it will go under the angle, let the lift off. By not fastening the boards down allows it to expand when wet and contract when dry. Some trailers have fastners only in one end

Thats how we did our trailer, except for the engine hoist part.

Thats how we did our trailer, except for the engine hoist part. I did most of the boards by myself, and the hoist gave me an adjustable point to bow the boards. But the last few a helper is needed, those boards get pretty tough. First few you can just lay them diagonally and slide them in, but eventually they get too long to do that.

On my cattle trailer we had to cut the welds and pull the angle iron up and tack it back in place when finished. You can leave the boards loose depending on use, we had to gap ours so they were fastened down in order to not shift around when the cows moved around in the trailer..something else to think about is if you dont fasten them down they will shrink considerably in teh first year. A little movement doesn't matter but again it depends on what you are gonna use it for...
