If I have two people in the canoe paddling hard, I can almost keep up with most trolling motors, LOL.

Shouldn't be going that fast on such a little lake anyway, IMHO. Just because you can get a fishing boat that goes 70mph doesn't mean you should! I can understand the pros using them; to them it's their livelyhood, but you can sure miss a lot of life by going so fast all the time! Again, just MHO. Peace!

If you know the lake its a different story. I run around 58 mph on this lake, because I know I can. When I hit one of the bends its a different story. I will slow down to idle when that happens. I know this lake like the back of my hand, and I know where to speed and where not too. Its just like speeding on thie highway, you gotta be smart about it. I know I can speed on I 35 from san antonio until I get to Selma, than you gotta slow down through there, Schertz, and New Braunfels, but after there its smooth sailing till you hit Austin. Its street smarts is all it is!!!!!

Catchin Lugers with all due respect you may know Lake Dunlap like the back of the lack like your hand but you don't know where boats or swimmers are going to be.
The comment fisherwood made was concerning our safety not yours, and if all of us ran 58mph on that small lake there would be alot of people getting killed.

much like the cornhole that didn't see me sitting at an approaching turn..I had my wife, 2.5 yr old and 6 mo old (all wearing jackets) and this prick HEARD me before he ever saw me.
I was already in defense mode when he was 150yds away and got on the t-motor...when I yelled "Hey!", it actually made him jump...and thats my voice over his I/O running 3/4 throttle.
Please slow down, the fish aint going anywhere...

quite a few speed demons on that lake. i can pretty much get from one end to the other safely in 10 minutes running a 48hp. i just don't see the need for goin 70 MPH on that little lake. its just too dangerous considering all the floating debris and submerged timber....i don't care how well you think you know the lake.
FISH ON!! <'///><

well there you go, certainly knowing a river...sorry I mean lake like the back of your hands justifies someone being able to run 70. Come on guys.
I have grown up going to Dunlap and it is way too dangerous to go anywhere near that fast.

I personally wouldn't feel too safe going 60-70 mph....but I will say this....I would rather have a bass boat go by me at 70 then a ski boat at 25!! Dang wake kills me

When I'm on the lake next month I must remember to stay in the stumps and rocks for protection. Geees! Have never owned a motor larger than 25hp in my life and just graduated to that two weeks ago. So don't worry guys, I'll stay out the high-speed lanes and in the ditch once I figure out where it is......
