sorry for delay in responding. i cant ever remember my password. This is the only one i have of the fins. this was from Grand lake. It was last winter, i just wanted to post it again for anyone who hasn't seen it but I know you guys have seen it. I DID NOT catch one fish that day. That was in the very back of a cove not very wide so i dont know what those could have been. I zoomed in to get a closer picture of it, maybe crappie but i find that hard to believe, probably some carp or something. I just love the shot though, it is so awesome.

 i was going to fast in this one, but a school of big shad or small white bass up top with some fish down deeper underneath them.

I have gotten the same detail off my Lowrance as well. Those are not "doctored", but he was probably in very clear water and as you can see fairly shallow. Under those conditions you will get a more detailed image. It does appear to be zoomed in as well. Definitely a down image. Since you didn't take them you don't know if they are "doctored" or not, and I don't either.

Actually, I suspect the water is a bit "off" in the first pic. I routinely pick up much sharper images of brush and other structure, almost photographic, with an HDS-7 on Canyon Lake. I can't seem to find the fish, but I don't know that that is Lowrance's fault.

Not as good as the first pic. but here is one from my HDS7. Can kinda see the fins on the ones in the brushpile.

I have gotten similar results with my 997. This was the 4th side imaging screen shot with the unit in May of 2007. Picture is a little small, but you can make out the fish and fins. It is a 455 khz shot.

The Elite 5 DSI should be out after the first of the year and it will have the downscan capability.

I was using a Humminbird 798si SI on the trolling motor with just the default settings. I know they were bass because I caught two of them.
