Very windy weekend in port a!

Lost a BIG snook on the jetties on a clouser minnow and caught a nearly 27" ribbon fish on the same clouser.

After the sun went down did a bit of floundering in the ship channel, saw quite a few but nothing big enough to gig.

Fished some lights that night, had a blast catching catching trout, I stopped counting at 30 but only ended with 5 keepers. Was a blast though. Fish were blowing up my deceiver and crushing my epoxy shrimp. Got bit by a big red on the shrimp but he dove into some garbage and broke off frown

great night of testing new flies!

Nice, seems like the lights are where its at down there.

It's more than the catfish would do.

What? You could actually fish the jetties? Yesterday I walked down to the end of Port A jetties and decided it was a lost cause and decided to head back to Hooks and waste my time drinking and tying flies at a picnic bench.

Oh well... I am glad you had some luck down here.

I'd call that a highly successful outing.

I really dislike ribbon fish. I don't like the way they fight and I don't like those gnarly teeth they have. This time of year they are a real nuisance in the some of the lights I fish at night.

I have no idea what to do. With all the cold fronts coming through it's hard to find a good pattern. I know a lot of people are doing pretty good on redfish and a few trout but they have all been on dead shrimp. The wind is suppose to calm down and it is suppose to warm up some before the weekend gets here. I'll keep you posted as the week goes on.
