Catch a gator and take em out of his belly.
You can't catch em if your hook aint wet.

I honestly don't know. You would think it would be a good crappie lake with lots of cover but I have heard that it is only so-so.

I live 50 miles from choke and 20 minutes from Lake Corpus Christi so I stay close to home. Now that I have a boat I'm going to spend some time up there. I've been there in the spring but have never been there when they were really biting. Always a day late. I did ask some of the Bass guides about the Crappie but did not get much info. They do catch some nice size Crppie at choke. Most of the crappie fisherman I talked (spring time} just fish the spring spawn. Since it is going to be windy tomorrow. I might run up there and see if I can find something out.

Choke has some great crappie fishing in the spring. February and March are the best months from my experience (depending how hard of winter we have). Crappie do not seem to get as shallow in Choke as they do in other lakes. I usually concentrate on 3 to 7 ft of water in the various pockets along the shoreline. Since I live in Central Texas, I am not able to get down to Choke in the other months, fishing the local lakes instead. I am sure you can find crappie in Choke year around. 20 yeras ago the crappie fishing was excellent in December and January at the water discharge at the dam. Since 9/11 this area is now restricted, but I would try the 99 bridge area fishing 30 ft water during these winter months. Hope this helps.
