Pontoon rider: Welcome! If I can help gather some info. about Canyon Lake for you ,let me know.

Wahoo: Thanks for the offer. Would be great to meet other anglers in the area. My fishing buddy (BOSQUE)and I always fish together for cats. Don't do any bass fishing any more, but do some coast fishing when time and opportunity are available. Would you be willing to extend the invitation on? We can use him for bait or boat anchor. Your preference Captain. Willing to pay for fuel, food, supplies, etc.

HOT & HUMID! Thats all I can say about this weekends fishing trip. Did not catch anything. Had a couple of hits, but believe they were gar. Had resorted to fishing with bobbers at about 4'-5' range when I got hits. Used slab minnows and worms fishing off the bottom. People down from me at the fishing peir were croppie fishing and overheard them catching small cats as well as croppie. Don't know if all the boats and pesky jet fleas had something to do with it.
I primarily pole fish and have learned that during mid March thru end of May and again Oct thru mid November is good for cats in the coves.
I just mainly use live Bait (minnows, worms, goldfish, and crawdads). Not much into stink bait. My fishing buddy has experimented with stink baits and has had no success.

Kittyhunter,
I would definitely extend the invitation to you and you fishing buddy. Email me sometime whenever you two would like to go. I just went to calveras on sunday and tore the kitty kats up. It was a meat haul!!! I havent found the cats that thick on canyon yet but I am sure we will just have to look.

Just caught back today from canyon. Stayed up there for a week and caught a lot of 5 to 15 pound blues on trot lines. Caught alot of cannels at night fishing lake points in 15 to 20 ft of water. All caught on cut perch, did not catch a one on live anything.

Bosque and I went to the Guadalupe River just north of Canyon lake where hwy 281 crosses over it. On the right side going towards San Antonio there is a camp ground. We paid $7 to get in. Went all the way to the end of the campground. There you have to carry all your gear and find a spot to fish along the bank. Not the greatest trails. We set up and began huntin' yellas. We took along large minnows, perch and goldfish. Unknowingly we did not take enough perch. One gar and three yellas were caught in an 8 hr. period. The smallest cat was 3-4 lbs and the the other two were 7 and 9lbs. We released all to catch another day. We had our minds set to hunt the big uns'. We did experience action all throughout the night. Purchased some Danny Kings Punchbait. Had lot of action but in the end no catches. What a rush it was to have a big yella at the other end fighting. Will have to give credit to the way blues fight but they aint no yella. laugh laugh laugh laugh

Where do you get the cut perch? Can you buy it somewhere or do you have to catch your own?

I usually catch and cut them up fresh so they
put off a better scent trail. Hope this helps.
Good Day; ><{{*>
