If you have a YAK the south Galveston jetty has like a gazillion large sheep's head swimming around next to the rocks. You can see them when the water is clear.About half way out all the way to the end of the jetty, just about every single rock you can see sheep's swimming around.I was there 2 weeks ago stop counting after a hundred.

I haven't been to the north jetty,so I don't know if its the same.If you can get your hands on some golf shoes with steel cleats, you can walk the rocks safely. You don't even have to go that far out. Those sheep's are every where right now.We were using small live shrimp.Caught two guys limit in less then an hour. And we weren't even trying to catch them.Tomorrow the wave is predicted to be very calm all day.accessing the south jetty is not going to be a problem. There is two section of the concrete walk way partially missing, but on a calm day like tomorrow it will be passable.

Don't park you car next to the jetty. It will be submerge when the tide comes up in the evening. There's a parking area for the jetty about 100 yards from the jetty.

I went to the south jetty today trying to land some smacks with my Yak,but instead ending up catching sheep's,black drum, reds and trout.5 sheep's,2 trout,2 drum,1 twenty seven inch reds and release about 10 rat reds,1 flounder.Had to go home take the kids trick or treating.Left them biting. All caught using live shrimp free lining next to the rock.Having a Yak really give me an advantage. It has taking me places where I cant normally access by feet's.More fish and less people.

I and my buddy fished at Texas City Dike on Friday night. Caught one 35" bull red, some whitings and golden croakers. On Sat morning we drove to SLP and stayed there the whole day. The current was slow and so was fishing. We caught one 28" slot red, one 20" black drum, one big sting ray, numerous whitings and golden croakers, nearly all in afternoon.
The tide current was slow. It's not for great fishing but the weather was perfect to stay on beach. I used to fish on jetty. Now I am turning to SLP.
When temperature, wind and current are normal. Fishing seems to be affected mostly by tide current flow. This weekend we got most bites during the prediected fish feeding time which is based on the tide current flow rate. Of course cold front can change everything. Whenever cold front kicks in, I always go out to have a try no matter how horrible the weather can be.
