Let me throw in my best catfish bait. Up here at Possum Kingdom the best bait we ever found was chicken weenies. Buy the cheapest chicken weenies,cut the pieces about 3/4" long and use a treble hook. It sounds a little redneck but they damn sure catch channel & yellow cat better than anything we used in 20 yrs. living at PK.

And why is it again you want to catch these little catfish? Seems to me good fried chicken liver is better eating and I know the shrimp is better.

I use big marv's cheese bait on lakes in south central texas and we average 50-75 fish almost everytime we go. if you want to try Big Marv's cheese bait call him @ (830-789-4445) this bait really does work in current or in shallow waters.

Best bait you can get is what you catch at the place you go fishing.If ya have a cast net,use what ya catch. No cast net?, then catch a few perch/sunfish with a small hook & light line.

WHAT ?? No perch a bitin ?? maybe you could use a grasshopper that are in the weeds nearby.

How long has it been since ya caught a perch on a cane pole ?? you can pluck those little critters with a cane pole fast as you can bait a hook !!!

As you might guess, I don't go for channels.But if all else fails , i do have my sure shot punch bait that i can whoop out.

if ya fish the way you always fish, then ya get the same results ya always get try something diff.

Take a zip-lock bag. Add shrimp, liver with juices, seal, put in fridge for a few days. Fish with either or both. The cats just can't refuse.

Chicken livers for me! If you use a snap swivel at the hook end of the line, you can remove the hook and push the eye thru the liver so as not to tear it the just resnap the hook.

Silas thanks for the welcome. Water level at Lake Graham/Eddelman is holding up ok. We got a little rain today, didn't help the lake but It may play hell with opening day of dove season.
