Hmmm...I have a 6 gallon bucket i use to put all my stuff in when i go fishing...I guess i can strap one end of the pole to the bucket then swing around with the other pole or something huh? Wonder if that would work or if i would need to weigh it down some more.

might give that a try...i'm going out with my bro tomorrow so i'll give it a try, and try to do it myself too to see if i can get anything, it not i may have to get that dip net for the times that i go out by myself...arlington has a 30 ft boat dock that you can walk along that's only like 12 inches off the water, i would think if I walked up and down the dock with the dip net I shoudl get SOMETHING.

How do you hook your shad? Last time I went through the head, then again through the tail, figured there was NO WAY they were gonna snatch it off the hook without getting stuck...WRONG, somehow they still got it off the hook...!!!

yea i usally take a 33zebco just for carp//average i have 7 or up to 12 rrs depending on how long im staying//shade seems like cannot be hooked fish proof//bait cast reels 14# mimum 4 line//depending on water a good pair of bio nocs is a good thing to have too..dependimg on how far bttl is let out//be sure to leave line spool/bail//or drum open so wind can pull float out also dont tryto pull out too much line at one time as will only proab hang up on bottom//i usally tru to keep bttl and reel semi tight (wind) allowing cause a big cat dont always take bait and instanly run let um play for a sec 1st //.how ever i have had um sink it in a flash and was glad i had open spool so as to give me time get ready for a good hook set
good luck to ya

WHAT ABOUT THIS...i fish off the bank right now and was going to take some range cubes out with me to "lure" them in...now would this work:
Take a onion or potatoe bad and put a good amount of range cubes in it. Tie it to a clorox bottle with about 3 ft of line between the two...chunk out the bottles as far as i can, let the cubes soak up some water and start to dissolve, then every couple of minutes give it a quick couple of yanks and keep doing that till you've brought them back in.
Will this help bring them in closer if they are a little further out? Or should I just throw them out as far as i can and let them do their own thing?

range cubes (cow cake) same i think good for bait fish .carp gaspergoo(black drum) small channel cats cant remember ever doin much better than that..try wheaties and big red as a dough bait for carp then use carp as cut bait for cats(TPWD RULE BOOK SAY )carp to have intestines removed b4 returning to water look it up//let carp sour in bucket a few// good trick too but unless you want the skin to be there next time you go out dont hook thru carp skin tough stuff that is
