Hey everyone, I need to get some shad from the bank at Lewisville. I was wondering where I should go and what time? I have a net and everything and I really don't want to buy my shad cause I just like fresh caught shad a lot more...any advice would be awesome. Thanks a lot!

I've had trouble finding shad shallow due to the cold water. You may try some of the lighted boat ramps before daylight. If you can find a lighted dock in deeper water that is best.

I havent been able to catch shad all winter. I have thrown out of a boat and from the bank until my back hurts...lol I do know that you can catch them right up on the bank at daylight during the spring/summer. I will be there then and maybe i can catch some finally.

Until the water warms up some the shad will be deeper, caught em last two days at 20 ft.

It may be too early, but I always have luck at boat ramps. I usually use waders and a long seine. I have thrown crumbs and waited a few minutes. When I see them hitting the crumbs, I have caught them with a cast net. Long seine works better. Its usually April and may though. Might be worth a try.

I have not had much problem wiht catching shad between 4-6 foot of water in the afternoon. I am usually at the Shady Shores ramp. I cast the net about 50 yards south of the ramp. I usually wade about knee deep, and then cast out. I have had the best luck around 3:30-4:00. Good luck. Robert

Shad are still in deeper water. They will be easier to catch from the bank in the near future.

Shad are on the bank now right at day break on some parts of the lake. Just so you know.
