I will be going to Galveston (Jamaica Beach)this Friday and I am thinking about taking my 16 ft tracker with 25HP. Will it be worth while or should I leave it at home and just fish the jetties? I would like to get my kids on some fish but I have never taken a boat in the bay. Any advice would be helpfull.

Nobody can tell me anything about having a boat in the bay in Galveston area? What to watchout for, where to launch, or if it is worth dragging 5 hours?

I fish a kayak from san luis pass. Great fishing. My yak is much lighter so i just launch from the beach. But on the freeport side of the bridge (maybe 5 miles from jamaca beach) there a boat ramp. Just stay to the channles or you will be pushing.

If it ain't broke, fix it till it is.

Forecast is 15 to 20 knots wind this Friday. Not a good idea to be on the water on such windy condition. You've better off throw a couple surf rod out for some bull reds roaming the surf.

I would take that advice if I were you. Throw live menhadden for redfish andcut ladyfish for shark. Take some big rods and hold on!
