Pretty sure I know the answer but will ask it anyway after a confrontation on Eagle Mountain Lake this past weekend with a dock owner. Is there a 50' rule or law or something around boat docks on this lake?

Misinformed land owner trying to strong arm you. Tell him to call the game warden.

Public Lake = Public water = You can fish the dock as long as you do not leave your boat...
+1 on telling them to call the Game Warden. Also, go to the TP&W website and look at the laws. In there is a specific law regarding this. He/She can be fined and or imprisoned for harrasment of a fisherman.

That's what I thought. The bad thing was it was a little old lady and didn't want to get into it with her. She is old and a lady!
Just wanted to make sure nothing has changed with the laws I didn't know about. Bad thing is it was a dock I have caught a couple good fish on before.

Tell her you have the clapper installed on your boat that will turn her lights out.

I just printed out copies of the TPWD law on their website and carry them in the glove box of the boat. When someone on a dock starts in on me, I politely give them a copy of it and ask that they please call the game warden for me.

It seems like at one time there was a rule about maintaining a slow speed within 50 ft. of a dock. No wake or something like that, but no rules as far a how close you can get to a dock as long as you don't touch it.
