Caught about a half dozen bream this morning. Not sure which was more fun, catching or watching the niblets chase my fly. There were some juvenile bassies in the shallows, but they seemed content watching the little breams do their nibbling.

Woke up too early this morning and thought about sneaking in some Monday morning fishing. Had to tap my foot a bit, waiting for some daylight.

My third back-cast hit the rod and created a mess. Had to cut the fly off to untangle it. Didn't want to fish that fly anyhow. Should have stayed in bed.

A few casts later, I got a hold of something big. My new finny friend swam off with my fly and tippet. Should have stayed in bed.

How come I can't get a Davey Knot to work this morning? Should have stayed in bed.

Just after I said it was time to head to work, the phone gave me a tug. Printers not working in Tulsa and McAlaster. Should have stayed in bed.

Got a few breams to play. Glad I got out of bed. smile

Bad davy knot, BAD!
More often than knot, that first twist of the tag end doesn't take and I end up with a non-knot. I guess it just gives me more practice.

Are Non Knots anything like Don Knotts? "Nip it in the bud!"

It is such a simple knot that one can quite handily fail to tuck the tag end back in under itself. But a firm tug quickly tells the story. Never cast until the knot has been tug tested. Ask me how I know.....
