Am I getting this right? There is no way for me to view the navionics info on my laptop? Why do they have the CD slot in the box, if it doesn't come with a cd? Is everyone okay with this? I mean, these things aren't cheap. Shouldn't we be able to view the info on our computers as well? I don't know about you, but I would like to plot out my trip somewhere other than sitting in my boat, or trying to read it on my tiny Iphone screen.

you are correct you cannot view it on your laptop by itself. you have to buy the navplanner. probably a way for them to make more money, but also so you cannot copy it and sell sd cards with the map data to everyone. with the navplanner you can plot and print your trips maps. sucks i know, i am still debating whether a navplanner is worth the money. one thing i will say is if you fish in different regions buy the navplanner 2 because it comes preloaded with the maps. so while you wont have them on SD card you can plot a trip out for a different region and print a copy to take with you

I wonder why they put the card in a cd case? I automatically assumed there was a cd in there, without inspecting it closely.

They have a PC ap, but it doesn't have the western hemisphere. Go figure.

Thanks for the info on navplanner.

Johntvette, the packaging had a CD slot due to the fact we used the same packaging as we used for the since Discontinued Hot Maps Explorer CD. As for buying Nav Planner 2, I think you will find that it is worth every penny and will pay for itself in helping eliminate costs buy being able to plan your trips. With fuel at near $3.00 a gallon, every drop you can save counts. It also aloows you to see other bodies of water that may be of interest in other regions before actually buying a chart for that region.

Hope this explanation helps.
