The location on the map is approximate. I'd have to check the GPS for exact location if someone needs it. I started the evening by catching a ton of shad with the castnet. I got some of the shad at the crappie wall and the rest under the lights at the dam. After that I went to the spot on the map. Every few minutes I took a few shad out of the livewell and cut them into pieces and dropped them in the water. After I finished doing that for a bit I put three rods out with shad. I put three cuts into the shad and then threw them out on the rods. After a while longer I was getting fish on every rod. As soon as I'd catch a fish and get the rod rebaited, another rod would start getting hit. I finished the night with a bunch of 2-3 lb cats. Perfect for eating.

Hey Dan, nice job and it was nice meeting you. Your advice on those shad paid off big time. I put a bunch in my freezer for the winter and will go back to that spot in the future to try again. Did you ever get any reds? As I was leaving that afternoon, there was a boat pulling a nice red in. I think I overheard one of the people onboard say that the guy reeling it in was 88 years old. They were trolling the corner between the spillway and the personal watercraft launch.

Cool, I'm glad you found them. Actually you bring up a good point about having shad for the winter. I was just thinking about what I was going to do for bait this winter. I didn't end up getting any reds but I got some good advice at the cleaning station that I will probably try out this weekend. How did you end up doing for fish?

We did pretty good. I was out hunting the panfish since I found out there was nice gills on that lake. My daughter ended up catching quite a few along with a couple nice channels. She had fun and thats what counts. Good luck finding those reds, I think they will start slowing down here as it gets cooler. There is a guy, jsb91010, that is nice guy and has provided a lot of info out there and very knowledgable finding the reds. Search his posts and I am sure you will get some more useful info.

Just wondering if you could give gps coordinates i would appreciate it thanks Just look for the telephone poles out in the water off that point. It is the only point on the lake that has any telephone poles in the water near it.
One of these days I'm going to Land the BIG ONE!!
