Hi.

New here and not too familiar with best spots in San Antonio area.

Basically looking at doing some camping and night-fishing off the shore this weekend and was thinking of maybe Medina or Canyon Lake, or perhaps one of the rivers. Or, if anyone can think of anything better with a high catch potential, it would be most helpful.

Can anyone recommend some spots please? Thanks.

Cool Hand

Calaveras Lake, Braunig Lake, Choke Canyon (Three Rivers, TX), Canyon Lake, Medina Lake, If you don't mind the drive Lake LBJ, Lake Bucahannan, Inks Lake. The Hill Country Lakes are always nicer places to camp.

One of these days I'm going to Land the BIG ONE!!

For somewhere local in the San Antonio Area with a high catch rate for the bank I would go to Cally. You can always catch the Channel Cats just about anywhere on that lake. As for the Reds they are getting more scattered and some are heading to the outtake due to the cooler weather setting in. You can also pick-up a Hybrid or two from the bank as well. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm ideally looking for low mosquito levels as well, and perhaps some deep water by the shore with nice campgrounds and a nice view for sunset/sunrise ... considering Pop's Place at Medina, or Potter's Creek at Canyon but will look into the other suggestions.

Once again, cheers! smile
