i just got back from the meeting tonight at cabelas on the proposed hunting and fishing rule changes. i thought the anti bowfishing for catfish crowd was well represented. there were three anti- advocates there including myself and only one for it. i spoke on three points 1. hard to judge size/species(channel or blue) in water 2. cant put back a shot fish 3. catfish is a gamefish, what logical defense would we have agianst redfish, lmb if this passes?
there were other points mentioned but they followed the ones above reasonably closely. one thing i did hear was a personal experience by some one who was familiar with buchanan, he stated that often times during the year you can see large numbers of flatheads stacked up over sandbars at night, that they would be extreemly exposed. the for bowfishing comments were pretty weak as they were not so well presented. keep fighting everybody, -Wyatt

Well done. I wish I could have made it but alas I am working every night this week. Fight the good fight. I look forward to cursing the proponents names the next time I release a catfish to be caught another day.

skyshark-I can relate to your your enthusiasm, but there are somethings that are not meant to be shot at using this method. Have you thought about what would happen if you wounded it? How would you retreive it? I love to hunt and fish myself, but I try to be humane in how animals are harvested and/or released back to the wild. I cannot see how a fellow fisherman would be enticed by such a method to which in fact it may hurt the future of catfishing. But this is a free country, so whatever floats your boat.
WyattT- Thanks for the heads up and I tip my hat off to you.
