Went to Hubbard on 6-7, fished from the bank along the rocks at Miller Rd. Caught only small dinks, using DK and liver. Could not find fresh shad. Anyone have better luck from the bank? North wind may have messed things up.

Been out to Miller Rd and Rowlett Rd 3 times now the last few weeks. Fishin DK's under the cork. I used to use shrimp but won't use anything but Danny Kings anymore. Had 12 keepers once, 15 next, 10 next. Many many throw backs. The ladies are full of eggs. Good time to catch-em.

Good luck,

I like the DK too. When you fish it under a cork, do you put a weight right down on the hook? You know DK floats. I had a slip sinker right down on my treble, using a slip cork, worked pretty well, except when my sinker kept getting in the bucket of DK. I usually put a fixed weight about 10 inches up from the hook, but I thought it might be better if it were right on the hook. I've done the best about 3 feet under my cork. How are you rigging HB?

My wife and I also fished with DK off of the pier at the park off of Miller last week. Nothing but nibbles. Bank fishing spots on Hubbard north of I-30 are limited and haven't been producing for me this year. Might have to check out Lavon?

lovntree, I have been to the turn off at Chaha and fished the rocky point and also the rocks by the I30 bridge. I have been concentrating on any of the rocks (bridges) at Hubbard or Lavon. The kitties are looking for any structure in shallow water, preparing for their spawn. Catching them shallow, under a cork, is a lot of fun. Lot different than watching your rod tip for a twitch when bottom fishin. Saw some guys on the rocks, using chicken liver, cane poles with corks, with a basket full of kitties. Have fun!

I fished the ramp area there at chaha a week or so back. From what I could tell there is some catfish activity but mainly yellow bellies. This would account for the nibbles which we had constantly. I saw one gentleman catching them one after another. So go small on your hooks and don't waste that expensive bait on them. I can say also that I saw a few cats caught but all were dinks. Timing is definitely the key in this spot as the yellows moved in about 8am. I would say late night is the time for this spot.

I've been fishing DK's exclusively for the past few years...I like it's cast-ability and effectiveness. I fish 12ld test line, A small cork bobber, 4-5 feet leader to the #6 bronze treble hook, a small split shot 6 inches above the bait to keep it down. I throw out past the rock rip rap about 30 feet and let it drift back to 5 feet off the rocks and recast and rebait as needed. This has worked well for me the last dozen or so years. The cats should be off any bridge rip rap from now for a few more weeks. Be sure to measure what you keep. 12 inch min. these days.

Good Luck,
HB22
